Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve - Anne McKinnell Photography

The Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is a 1,781-acre protected area in the western Mojave Desert, located about 15 miles west of Lancaster, famous for its vibrant displays of California poppies (the state flower) and other wildflowers like owl’s clover, lupine, goldfields, and cream cups, creating rolling hills of orange and multicolored blooms in good years. Over 8 miles of trails, a visitor center (open seasonally during bloom periods), picnic areas, and vista points with views of the San Gabriel Mountains. Bloom season is typically mid-February to mid-May, peaking in March–April. Blooms depend heavily on winter rainfall, temperature & wind.

Location:  15101 Lancaster Rd, Lancaster, CA, accessible from Hwy 14 Exit Avenue I West.
